ABOUT ME
Next to all of the above, Lara Morar is a German-Romanian nostalgia addict bouncing between Germany and France. She's got a soft spot for Golden Age cinema, dark comedy and jokes that take three languages to land.
She often weaves multilingual elements—German, English, and French—into her performances and writing.
Trained at Cours Florent Paris, Lara spent two years studying theatre, placed third in the international department of the 2023 Eloquence Contest (yes, she can argue in three languages), and has performed in everything from classic ensemble drama to experimental chaos involving fake coke, glitter, and exsistential angst.
Presently, she is throwing herself into playwriting and literary work, which means she is spending a lot of time in cafés looking into the distance, whispering edits to herself, and trying to make metaphors misbehave.
She aspires to unleash her stories into the world—with a dream of seeing her words take up real estate on the page, the stage—and your bookshelf.
FIRST STEPS & CURTAIN CALLS
Raised in an artistic household where madness was encouraged and reality optional, Lara was exposed to the creative world from a young age—her parents even named her after Lara Antipova from Doctor Zhivago.
Her dad being a puppeteer, some of her earliest memomies on set are of snacking alongside the Cookie Monster, chilling in garbage cans with Oscar the Grouch, and arguing about Ernie with Bert. When she was three years old, she pretty much plunged into the world of film and television. There, she developed a sixth sense for on camera presence, spatial awareness, and dramatic hair flips that are available upon request.
Early experiences also included ballet, local theatre productions, and voice acting—often playing characters that were eccentric, abstract, or otherwise unfit for polite dinner conversation.
Musically, Lara trained in piano, guitar, and voice, and began writing her own songs during her teenage years. She performed at local concerts and eventually took her music to the streets of Cologne—busking to raise funds for a nonprofit in Romania. She studied classical music for eight years at the Josef Metternich School of Music (2012-2020).
When she’s not working on a script or in front of the camera, Lara is a passionate advocate for environmental causes and animal welfare.
Behind the spotlight, Lara makes theatrical masks in the tradition of Jacques Lecoq. She also holds a certification as a herbalist, survival instructor, and forest guide. So, should you ever find yourself in need of someone to lead a Shakespeare reading, identify edible plants, and administer first aid—all in the same afternoon—you've found your gal.
Editor's note: The author of this bio remains anonymous and suspiciously well-informed. Lara would never write an “About me“ of herself in third person.

WHY DO I WANT TO ACT?
PERSONAL ESSAY
"My reason may not fill pages, but it most certainly fills in all the blanks. And yes, it is crazy enough to make me want to do it despite all that suggests me not to:
When I was younger, I used to imagine myself in the future, with another attitude and a different personality, with aspirations and hopes that weren't really mine. And after a while it struck me: The reason why I wanted to do so many things is that I found people, their lives and their jobs incredibly interesting. I like to observe and consider all facets; smallest facial expressions and gestures that make people who they are.
My ability to process mannerisms and types of behavior detailedly and quickly makes me an individual who puts authenticity first - this made me realize that my true desire is to embody and recreate the versatile characters that I meet everyday and give them a new story.
I am what they call an extroverted introvert and I dread being in the center of all attention. But the way I see it, putting myself on the spot is the best way to find out who I am and I simply love the challenge that comes with it. When I am playing a part it feels like someone who grew out out of my soul took my place, used my voice and moved my body. Whoever that someone is can teach me more about myself.
Another simple, yet decisive realization is the following: I just love doing it. As Oscar Wilde once said, acting is so much more real than life - and less pretentious. As an actress, I get to listen and react honestly without being judged; to analyze and apply text; and to make it come alive.
I truly believe that storytelling is about emphasizing the intimate truth of the character so the audience can find theirs.
I would like to make people feel understood:
You could be a coldblooded murderer who killed his entire family and still cause tears. Compassion is never misplaced, whether one is giving it to a tyrant or a saint. To me, that is most captivating and I can’t think of anything better than acting in order to achieve my goal to fill this world with empathy.
I want to be the best actress I can be. Show up to work focused and deliver a precise and original performance.
I realize that I will have to work hard and be confident about what I do - and I am more than willing to do that. I have a dream and now I want to give it all I got. This is what I want to do with my life."

PAVLOVA'S WORK (ENGLISH)
Audio or Stage Play (1 hour)
A journalist at a prestigious newspaper invites a crassly honest sex worker to a dining in the dark experience—his wish to discuss her work (as explicitly as possible) for what he hopes to be his most groundbreaking article on prostitution and male fantasy. Take for take, he records their conversations on a device, until their voices distort and it becomes unclear who's who and which fantasy belongs to whom.

STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT: First Draft
LITTERBOX (ENGLISH)
Screenplay (90 minutes)
A couple's life is documented in their bathroom throughout various, non-chronological scenes and moments in their relationship.
Dean, a hardworking and impossibly complicated stand-up comedian, and Sofia, a spoiled model with the hair of a godess, try to cope with arriving from what used to be the rosetinted beginnings of something great, to a convenience.
As every day life kicks in, intimate boundaries shed like hair. Routine-life gets turned upside down when Sofia brings her dead dad’s kitten home and puts the litter box in the bathroom. The cat's not toilet trained yet, so Sofia insists the bathroom door stay open at all times. Dean however, hates the idea of destroying the final barrier of intimacy, and thus eradicating the itsy-bitsy bit of privacy he has left. After having had his fill of shower hair, cat hair, fur balls, puke, stinky litter and an open bathroom door, he decides to get rid of the cat.

DAS WALDCAFÉ (DEUTSCH)
Kinderserie / Wissenschaft, Natur & Allgemeinwissen (12x25)

STILL AND IN MOTION - THE PROCESS
As a continuation of her work as a physical theatre performer, Lara began handcrafting masks for film and live performance in 2022, closing for herself the circle between performing arts and applied arts.
Influenced by Jacques Lecoq’s methods of physical storytelling and the tradition of Nō theatre, which she studied in drama school, her masks blend venerable techniques with modern inspirations, such as text snippets from Tyler the Creator's Igor and contemporary poetry from her home countries. Sometimes they even include some very modern poetry: Romanian curses by Grandmother Morar.
Designed for actors, musicians, and visual artists, Lara’s masks are both performance tools and standalone works of art. Her creations have appeared in stage productions, art installations, and collaborative projects across Germany and France.
Sculpting a mask directly onto the performer's face, Lara aims to ensure an individualized fit that maximizes both comfort and mobility: this technique allows the mask to accentuate the unique facial structure and mimetic range of each artist, resulting in a seamless integration between mask and performer. Plus, it's fun to get your face plastered at least once in a lifetime, innit?
To top that all off, each mask is created with widely natural, low-impact materials, emphasizing sustainability as well as artistry. This sculptress believes it's time to shed the social mask and put on a real one. Commissions and creative collaborations are welcome.
